Rayford Latz: AE:The answer to this question depends on the laws of the state where you were home schooled. If your state's laws define what it means for a home or private school to qualify as a "home school", then your home schooling must have satisfied those state requirements.More importantly, though, if your state issues "school completion" credentials to home schoolers (and it sounds like your state does), then you must obtain this credential in order to be eligible for Federal Student Aid funds. That's what your school is asking for - and I'm guessing from the details of your question that you are attending a community college in the state where you live - and where you were home schooled. That would suggest, of course, that your school is aware of whether your state requires secondary school completion credentials.Though the financial aid standards don't mention the possibility of accepting an affidavit in lieu of the completion certificate, it's possible that your ! school has decided that a parent's affidavit is sufficient - you'll have to ask them if you still need to provide a completion certificate.Good luck!...Show more
