Hybrids Good or Bad fro the environment?

Azzie Trembly: There are always unintended circumstances that affect any change in consumer thinking. For example, flex fuel vehicles. Everyone knows making gasohol from corn has to be good, since it doesn't rely on oil. But look at milk prices now, and the cost of beef. Why are they up? Because corn that was once cheap and used to feed cows is not being converted to fuel.

Rosann Mccomb: The batterys dont cost 10k and I didnt just say because of the disposal problem I said because of the manufacturing

Chet Nozick: Good for the environment overall. You got it wrong: It COSTS more for the consumer to drive a Prius than a Chevy Tahoe, because of the $10,000 battery replacement after five years. The reduction in greenhouse gases more than makes up for the battery disposal problems, though, making hybrids GOOD!...Show more

Leontine Kreitz: http://clubs.ccsu.edu/Recorder/editorial/editorial... I do not believe that they are all they are cracked up to be at! all. i the most effective way is to keep your old car on the road an extra few years and bank a car payment in the mean time then buy out right one of those small economy cars if you truly like the envrionment.

Abel Adger: Why would they be bad for the environment? Anyways, I thing diesels or hybrid/diesels are the future. You get the benefit of the battery, but diesels by themselves have high MPG(Accord diesel will get around 50MPG) abilities so you could get extremely high mileage numbers.

Marcia Cheathan: Because of the batterys they have disposal issues and from what I understand from production to showroom to ownership A toyota prius will end up eseing 50% more oil than a hummer h2 through its lifetime
