Hubert Jestes: Because people just repeat what they are told, not what is actually observed.
Shaun Rapkowicz: I'm not an expert in climate trends, but I have paid attention to the news and have taken many classes regarding the environment. My only explanation is that the growth may just be temporary. For example, I was reading in The Times that, at the current conditions in 30 years, all but two Sierra Nevada ski resorts will not have enough snow to operate. The two resorts that have enough snow will actually experience an increase in snowfall. However in the long run, models project that they will be snow-less as! well. Perhaps the south pole is going through one of these types of stages-- I'm not sure, but that's the best answer i can give you. Lastly, check your source. It never occurred to me until recently that the Weather Channel or other seemingly non-political media are all run by people that have their own ideas about political issues (like climate change). Thus, it makes sense that they'd try to sway their viewers by showing facts that only support their opinions....Show more
