Toby Caswell: A Registered Dental Assistant can perform more duties than a Dental Assistant. To become a RDA you must past a written and practical test. This enables the state to grant you a license that must be renewed every 2 years after taking a certain number of hours of continuing education courses. RDAs make more money then DAs because in the dental profession, DAs are at the bottom rung of the ladder. CDAs are basically the same as RDAs. Some states like CA do not recognize CDAs but only RDAs so if you earned a CDA in another state and want to work in CA and do the same duties, you need to obtain a RDA. You do not need to attend any special school to become a DA or RDA because many dentists are willing to train you. If you are lucky enough to find such a dentist, that is the best way to go....Show more
Raul Lushbaugh: For rda it's just that u have to pass a test and you have to renew your license every two years by going to seminars... You get paid more is wh! at it means
Barrett Zheng: The difference between registered and certified is the school you attend. If your school is acredited you will be a registered DA if it's not you will only have a certificate and likely won't make as much money. The cost of a RDA school is several thousand more but you get what you pay for.
