Marjory Stromme: You have a lot of no answers, but I am not going to say no, I am also not going to say yes.The cost of cigs is likely not to affect smokers that already smoke. The price will never be raised to ridiculous numbers like $100 a cig so it will never be so much of a burden that smokers can't scrounge up a few extra bucks to pay for the increase. It is addicting so they will pay because they feel they need ! it.However, what it may do is be a deterent for people that might start! smoking. You see, if I am thinking about smoking but then notice that it is $20 a pack, I may think "hmm, maybe it's too expensive." And of course, there are those people that are smokers that will finally decide that it simply isn't worth the money and will commit to quiting, though the numbers will be small.
